Our Privacy Pledge
Home League Advantage ("HLA," "we," "us," or "our") is committed to protecting your privacy. We only collect and track the minimum information necessary to provide you with an enhanced experience while using our service. This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, why we collect it, and what we do with it.
By creating an account or using HLA, you agree to the practices described in this Privacy Policy.
1. About Home League Advantage
HLA is a fantasy football auction analytics and draft management platform. Our core features include:
- Historical price analysis — tracking what your league has paid for players at each positional rank slot across multiple seasons
- Consensus rankings integration — displaying current and historical expert consensus rankings (ECR) sourced from FantasyPros under license, allowing users to understand how expert opinion aligns with their league's actual auction behavior
- Lineup research tools — building, saving, and comparing draft plans using historical pricing data
- Live draft day tracking — recording auction picks in real time as your league's auction happens, whether in person or through a supported platform
- Cross-league benchmarking — with your consent, comparing your league's pricing against anonymized, aggregated data from similar leagues on the platform
Understanding what HLA does helps explain why we collect the data we do and how we use it.
2. Information We Collect
Account information. When you register, we collect your name, email address, and a password. Passwords are stored using a 256-bit hashing algorithm — we never store your plaintext password, and our personnel will never ask you for it.
Fantasy league data. When you connect a fantasy football league (via Yahoo, ESPN, Sleeper, or manual CSV upload), we collect league settings (roster configuration, scoring format, team count, auction budget), historical auction draft results (player names, prices paid, draft year, team and manager names within your league), and current season roster data where applicable. We do not store your Yahoo, ESPN, or Sleeper login credentials. When you connect via OAuth, we receive and store only the authorization token necessary to read your league data on your behalf. We do not receive your platform password.
Live draft session data. If you use HLA's Draft Day feature to track your live auction, we collect and store the picks recorded during that session — player names, prices paid, and the team each player was assigned to — so that draft state persists across page refreshes and so the completed draft can be saved to your permanent league history.
User-generated content. Notes you write about individual players, favorite players you save, lineup plans you build and save, and general draft strategy notes you enter within the app.
Usage and device information. When you use HLA, we automatically collect basic technical information including IP address, browser type and version, operating system, device type, pages visited, and frequency and duration of activity. We use this information to keep the service running reliably and securely and to understand how users interact with the app.
Cookies. We use session cookies (temporary, expire when you close your browser) and persistent cookies (stored on your device between visits) to maintain your login session, remember your preferences such as scoring format and pricing scope settings, and understand usage patterns. You can control cookie settings through your browser, though disabling cookies may affect your experience.
Information from third parties. When you connect your fantasy platform account or upload data manually, you represent that you have the right to share that data with us. We receive only the league and roster data you authorize us to access.
3. Third-Party Data Sources
FantasyPros expert consensus rankings (ECR). Player rankings displayed in HLA are sourced from FantasyPros (operated by Marzen Media LLC) under a data license agreement. This ranking data is not generated by HLA — it is third-party licensed content that remains the property of FantasyPros. We collect and store these rankings in our database to power the price analysis features of the service. FantasyPros rankings are refreshed daily via their official API.
Sleeper NFL player data. We use the Sleeper public API to match player names to positions when processing imported auction data.
Platform data (Yahoo, ESPN, Sleeper). When you connect a fantasy platform, we receive league and roster data as authorized by you through that platform's OAuth or data-sharing mechanism.
4. How We Use Your Information
We use the information we collect to:
- Operate the core features of HLA — player price lookups, lineup building, live draft tracking, and league history analysis
- Calculate historical pricing statistics for positional rank slots within your league by combining your auction history with FantasyPros consensus rankings
- Save and restore your live draft session state so picks are not lost during an active auction
- If you opt in, include your league's anonymized, aggregated pricing data in cross-league benchmark statistics shown to other users (see Section 5)
- Maintain, improve, and develop the service, including diagnosing technical issues and understanding usage trends
- Communicate with you about your account or material changes to the service
- Detect and defend against fraudulent, abusive, or unauthorized activity
We will only use your personal data as necessary to provide the service or improve our operations. We do not use your data to serve advertising.
5. Cross-League Data Pooling (Opt-In)
One of HLA's most valuable research features is the ability to compare what your league has paid for a given positional rank slot against aggregated data from similar leagues on the platform. This gives you a broader market benchmark beyond your own league's history alone.
With your consent, your league's pricing data may contribute to an anonymized, aggregated pool used to calculate and display these benchmark statistics to other users.
When your data contributes to this pool: only aggregated numbers are ever shown to other users — averages, ranges, and sample sizes. Your league's name, team names, manager names, and individual draft results are never exposed to other users. Pooling only occurs between leagues with matching structural settings (same roster configuration and scoring format), so comparisons are meaningful and apples-to-apples. The individual prices you or your leaguemates paid are never shown to anyone outside your league.
You may opt in or opt out at any time in your account settings. Opting out stops future contributions but does not delete data already incorporated into historical aggregates, as that aggregated data can no longer be individually attributed to your league. Participation in cross-league pooling defaults to opted-in.
6. What We Do Not Do
- We never sell your personal information to third parties
- We never post, modify, or take any action within Yahoo, ESPN, Sleeper, or any other connected platform on your behalf. Our access is strictly read-only
- We do not use your data to serve advertisements. HLA does not currently display third-party ads
- We do not share your specific league's auction history, team names, manager names, or individual draft results with other users of the service
- We do not collect financial account information directly. Any future payment processing will be handled by a PCI-compliant third-party processor
7. How We Share Your Information
We do not sell, license, or share information that individually identifies you with companies, organizations, or individuals outside of HLA, except: with your consent; with trusted service providers who assist us in operating the service under confidentiality obligations; as anonymized aggregates in the cross-league pool as described in Section 5; for legal and safety purposes when required by law or to protect the rights and safety of HLA and its users; or in connection with a business transfer or acquisition.
8. Data Storage and Security
Your data is stored on secure cloud infrastructure (currently Railway for our database and application backend, and Vercel for our web application). We implement industry-standard security practices including encrypted connections (HTTPS/TLS) for all data in transit, 256-bit password hashing, access-controlled databases with restricted employee access, and secure storage of OAuth tokens used to connect third-party platforms.
No method of electronic storage is 100% secure and we cannot guarantee absolute security. If you believe your account has been compromised, please contact us immediately. You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your password. Do not share your account with anyone.
9. Data Retention
We retain your personal information for as long as your account is active and as necessary to provide the service. Specifically: account information is retained until you request deletion; league and auction data is retained for the life of your account to enable historical pricing analysis; live draft session data is retained permanently once a completed draft is saved to league history; FantasyPros ranking data is refreshed daily and historical snapshots are retained to enable year-over-year ranking comparisons; aggregated anonymized pool data may be retained after account deletion as it can no longer be tied back to your account; and session and usage logs are retained for a limited period for security and diagnostic purposes.
10. Children's Privacy
HLA is not directed to children under 13 and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If we become aware that we have inadvertently collected personal information from a child under 13 we will take steps to delete that information promptly.
11. Your Choices and Rights
You can at any time update or correct your account information in Settings, opt out of cross-league data pooling in Settings, disconnect a linked fantasy platform in Settings, or request deletion of your account and associated personal data by contacting us at info@homeleagueadvantage.com.
Depending on your location you may have additional rights under applicable law. California residents may have additional rights under the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA), including the right to know what personal information we collect, the right to request deletion, and the right to opt out of the sale of personal information. We do not sell personal information.
12. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. If we make material changes we will notify you via email or a prominent in-app notice before the changes take effect. Continued use of HLA after changes take effect constitutes your acceptance of the revised policy.
